Thelma Gadson Obituary
Mrs. Thelma Gadson, the daughter of the late George and Dorothy Polite was born on March 20, 1940 in Colleton County and departed this life on the morning of July 3, 2021. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday July 8, 2021 at Saint Center Ministeries 106 Colson Street Walterboro, SC. Elder Phillip Taylor is Pastor. Reverend Prince Polite will be the Eulogist. Interment will be held at St Paul C.M.E. Church 7897 Ritter Road, Walterboro, SC
Thelma was educated at Colleton County Training Center. She joined St. John Baptist Church at a young age. She was a faithful member where she sang in the choir for many years.
She worked as a cook for many years. Many people was blessed and served by the food she prepared. She always had a humble spirit and a kind heart always willing to help.
Thelma was married to the late Luther Harrison Gadson on August 15, 1957. To this union five children were born.
Left to cherish her loving memory Ricky Gadson, Sandra Dorsey (Derrick) Lucas Gadson, Lue Blakeney (Kenneth) and Doris Taylor. She was blessed to raise her two oldest grands Jacoby Gadson and Shena Gadson. With the love Shena had for her grandma, whom she called mother; Shena moved her into her home and gave her great comfort and care. She also leaves seventeen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Two brothers Stanley Polite, Reverend Prince Polite (Samuela), Two sisters Ruthann Shider (O'Harold), Geraldine Polite Bassett and a life long friend Anna Wilson. She also leaves a host of loving family members and friends.
Four sisters preceeded her in death Mary P. Harrison, Eunice P. Barnes, Lennis P. Walker and Retha Mae P. Brown and two brothers preceeded her in death George Polite, Jr. and Reverend William David Polite and one daughter-in-law Darlene Gadson.
