Ruth Jenkison Obituary

Ruth V. Jenkison was born on October 28, 1944, to the late Elick and Clara Mae
Pinckney in Walterboro, South Carolina. After an extended illness, Mrs. Jenkison
slipped quietly into eternity on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Cambridge Assisted
Living in Moorestown, New Jersey.

She received her education in the Colleton County school system of Walterboro,
South Carolina, where she attended public school. She left South Carolina early to
live with her father in New York. Later, she moved to New Jersey and made it her
home. She was employed by The State of New Jersey, Division of Consumer Affairs
until her disability began.

Ruth was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, supporting charitable outreach
and philanthropic projects, while also fostering lasting friendships and loving-
kindness toward all people.

Ruth became a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ, in the late 90s.
Later, she moved to Willingboro, NJ, to live with her daughter and joined Alpha
Baptist Church in Willingboro, NJ.

Ruth's lively spirit, candid nature, sense of humor, and devotion to her family and
friends will be cherished. Her most incredible pride came from becoming a great-
grandmother, though she genuinely enjoyed every moment with all her grandchildren.
She loved music, dancing, sewing, and the Christmas holidays.

Ruth was predeceased by her son, Yarby Dean Breland. Her mother, Clara Mae
Pinckney, her father, Elick Pinckney, one sister, Clara Fryar, and two brothers,
Clarence Pinckney and William Pinckney.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Two daughters, Cheryl (William) Jenkison, N.
Brunswick, NJ., Angela (Tashon) Jackson, Westhampton, NJ., Three sons, Richard
(Janet) Breland, Hope Mills, NC., Gene Breland, Orangeburg, SC., Gregory
(Safiyyah) Breland, Newark, NJ., One sister-in-law, Brenda Pinckney,
