There are some lives that quietly leave an everlasting mark on the hearts of others. Such was the life of Allen Charles Geathers, whose earthly journey began on August 10, 1941, in Colleton County, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of the late Clara Burnette Geathers and Milton Charles Geathers, who both preceded him in death.
Allen received his education in the Colleton County public school system before relocating to New York City in the late 1960s. He later returned to South Carolina, where he began a career with the South Carolina Railroad. After years of dedicated service, he retired in 1987.
In 1987, Allen was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Patricia Middleton Geathers. Their marriage was one of love, companionship, and devotion until her passing. Together, they created lasting memories and shared many of life’s blessings.
Allen was a devoted father whose greatest joy was his family. He leaves to cherish his precious memories his sons: Allen Michael Geathers, Freddie Lee Geathers, Antioni Gerard Geathers (Denices), and Fredrick Geathers of Florida.
On Friday, June 26, 2026, Allen answered the Master’s call and entered into eternal rest. While his physical presence will be deeply missed, the love he shared and the legacy he leaves behind will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory his loving sisters: Elizabeth Simmons of Charleston, South Carolina; Ethel Graham (Jake) of New York, New York; Maggie L. Geathers of Walterboro, South Carolina; Rosa L. Geathers of New York City, New York; Ann Geathers of White Hall, South Carolina; Lillie M. Geathers of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Rebecca G. Smashum of White Hall, South Carolina. Their love, prayers, and cherished memories will forever remain in their hearts.
He also leaves to mourn his passing his loving brothers: William Geathers of Walterboro, South Carolina; Jerome Geathers (Brenda) of Rock Hill, South Carolina; Milton Geathers, Jr. of White Hall, South Carolina; Louis Geathers of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Franklin Geathers (Shavawn) of White Hall, South Carolina. He is also survived by his devoted sister-in-law, Hallie Daniels of Bridgeport, Connecticut, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Allen’s memory will forever be treasured by his five beloved grandchildren, a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness and gentle spirit.
Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Allen’s race has been run, his work is complete, and his soul now rests peacefully in the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. His legacy of love, strength, and quiet dignity will continue to live on through the generations that follow.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”
Matthew 25:23
