In Loving Memory of Odessa McNeil
Odessa Boyd was born on July 27, 1964 and departed this life on July 19, 2026. She was born to the late Willie L. Boyd and Ethel D. Ancrum. At the age of three, John W. McNeil became a loving father figure in her life and helped raise her with love and care.
Odessa was a proud graduate of Ruffin High School and later earned her degree from South Carolina State University. She was employed by the Human Resources Administration (HRA) of New York City, where she faithfully served for 39 years before retiring.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son, Joseph Beaufort Taylor; her parents, John W. McNeil and Ethel D. McNeil; six brothers: Timothy Boyd, Casey L. Boyd, Michael Boyd, Jonathan McNeil, Lynell Boyd, and William Boyd; five sisters: Vera Coleman, Anita Whitney, Cynthia Rollin, Dominique Boyd, and Leveta Boyd.
She also leaves two uncles, Joseph L. Ancrum (Ruth) and Rev. Allen Ancrum (Bobbie); one aunt, Linda Rhodes (Wilbert), with whom she and Veronica shared a close childhood bond; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She also leaves to cherish her memory Ricky Taylor, the father of her son, Joseph Beaufort Taylor.
Odessa's love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will always be remembered. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit and the memories she created will remain in our hearts forever.
