Mrs. Loretha Powell Williams, the daughter of the late Joseph Haynes, Sr. and Ruthie Mae Powell Haynes, was born on August 27, 1951 and entered into eternal rest on April 25, 2020.
Loretha was educated in the Colleton County public schools and went on to attend EKG Trade School in Brooklyn, New York. She renewed her membership and rededicated her life to Christ at Mount Zion AME Church on July 14, 2019.
After many years of working as a Secretary for Campbell Construction, she became an EKG Technician at Brookdale Hospital. She started two businesses, Williams Beauty Salon & Williams Seafood. Later, she worked as an Office Manager for Sherril Insurance Agency.
“Pee Wee”, as she was affectionately called leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Willie Williams; three daughters, Dr. Tonya Blackmon (Brian) Las Vegas, Nevada, Phyllis Powell of Walterboro , Janice Powell of Walterboro, son Irian Williams (Charlene) of Walterboro; three brothers- Henry Norman Haynes (Donna), Joseph Haynes, Jr. (Regina), and Richard (Diresert) all of Cottageville, four sisters Jeanette Arnold of Tuskegee, Alabama, Emma Mae Campbell of Orangeburg, Wendy McBride (Michael) of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Jo Richardson of Charleston; one sister-in-law Florrie Powell; one uncle, two aunts; six grandchildren-Michael Mitchell (Betsy), Loretha Chaney, Briana Kozich (Austin), Jeronica Chaney, Octavia Singleton, and Brian Jeffery Blackmon, Jr.; seven Great-granddchildren McKenzie Cochran, Micah Mitchell, Tre’Sean Taylor, Miliana Mitchell, Aaleigh Kozich, Zoey Buckner, and Emory Singleton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, business associates, friends and special daughters and sons.
Three brothers, James H. Powell, David Carson Powell, and Fred Norman Haynes; two sisters Cherry Hayes Vandyke, Martha Brunson; one great-granddaughter Cassidy Michelle Kozich preceded her in death.
