Martha Smith Obituary

Martha Calloway-Smith affectionately known as “Mart” to family and friends was born March 2, 1942.  She was child #9 to Isaac and Lula Calloway.  She entered rest on Thursday December 18, 2025 at TriBoro Center for Nursing in Bronx Ny.

She was educated in Colleton County Schools and graduated from Colleton High in 1960.  After completion of high school, she moved to New York to do domestic work.  She then gave birth to her first born there Cynthia Williams.  She later met Joseph Smith Jr, they were married in holy matrimony on August 15, 1968.  From this union were born Mark A Smith and Jennifer N. Smith both of Bronx New York.   In August 1973, she dedicated her life to serve Jehovah and was baptized as One of his Witnesses.  She enjoyed  preaching and teaching along with the Clairmont Park congregation in Bronx.  She taught others about the hope that she has of a resurrection of the dead to everlasting life in a paradise earth, where she and countless others would no longer be sick. (Isaiah 33:24  Reve. 21:3.4)

Mart was preceded in death by her brothers:  Eugene, Matthew, Emanuel, Isreal, and ,Elijah.  Her sisters :  Ernestine and Mary Elizabeth, and daughter Cynthia.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Sisters Ida Williams (George) of Florence SC; Gertie Ford and Caroline Memminger both of Walterboro; Sons Dondi Smith(Valarie) and Mark Smith(Monique) and beloved daughter Jennifer  Teasley , all  from the Bronx 10 Grandchildren, a host of loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.  

She will also be remembered by her  infectious smile, love of music and quiet  demeanor.
