Linnon Charles "Curly" Mears

Linnon Charles “Curly” Mears was born on September 5, 1942 to the late David and Gladys Mears in Islandton, SC. He transitioned to his heavenly home on December 11, 2024 at Colleton County Memorial Hospital. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War. Linnon or as known to his family and friends as “Curly” enjoyed fishing and being in the water. Curly was known and loved by many for his silliness and joking personality.

Curly earned his associates degree in electrical engineering and was employed with Westinghouse, which up until his retirement was Nevamar in Hampton, SC. Linnon owned and operated a few adult nightspots during his life and was known for hosting shooting matches in his yard. His cooking skills were incomparable as he would grill and cook any and everything. He was known to be sitting under the tree in that pickup, hanging at one of the brother's houses, friends or the restaurant upon retirement. Anyone who knew Curly knew that he was one of a kind and jokey, but he didn't play about his family, those siblings, children and especially his “mother” as he called her, his babygirl.

Curly was preceded in death by one son Ron Mears, his parents David, Gladys Mears, two sisters Helena Howard, Galena Mann, one brother Jerome Mears, brother in laws Adele Howard, William Mann and William Kennedy, sister in law Viletta Buckner and special nephew Leon Bryant.

Left to cherish his memories are her children AdDaryll (Temeko) Mears, PaSheena (Titorean) Holmes, Lennon (Gloria) Lawton and Shaun Venning. Grandchildren Danielle Mears, Armon Mears, Chadaria Mears, Jaidon Dixon, Allasia Mears, Lennon Lawton Jr., Robert Lawton, Thomas Lawton, Ja-Niah, Ja-Quan (Savannah) Francis, Jayveon and Jayziah Holmes. Great Grandchildren JaCen and Journee Mincey. Siblings David (Shirley) Mears, Kenneth (Marie) Mears, Milton (Shermenia) Mears and FritzSheryl Kennedy. Special Nieces and nephews, Kim Solomon, Ron Grant, Novallias Mears, Brandie Grant, Kendra Mears, Sonya Bryant, Lynn Mears, Tyrell Kennedy, Romie Mears and Tasha Mears. Special cousins Kathleen and Irvin Smith. A host of other loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. Brother and sister in laws- Pastor Marcellous Buckner, Pastor JaDon Buckner, Gerlean White and Avis Buckner.
