Mrs. Lille Pearl Brown-Salley was born April 12, 1954 in Walterboro, South Carolina to the late Johnny Bookman and Lille Mae-Smalls Brown and Walter Brown, Sr. She transitioned into eternal rest on September 4, 2021 at Colleton Medical Center.
Lillie Pearl or Pearl (as most called her) attended school in Colleton County. She was employed with the Colleton County School District for 15 years until her health failed.
Pearl was the youngest of eleven children; eight preceded her in death: Elliott Mosley, Samuel Brown, Inez Brown-Colleton, Martha Brown-Scriven, Walter Brown, Jr., Rose Mary Brown, Janie Mae Brown Vandyke and Louise Brown. Also preceding her in death, husband of 20 years, Elton "Chief" Salley, devoted friend of 26 years, Willie Ruth and grandson Amaurie Salley
At an early age, Pearl joined Rock of Ages CME Church and later joined the United House of Prayer where she served on the Usher Board.
Pearl enjoyed yard sales and shopping. One of her favorite shopping sports was Habitat. She also enjoyed talking on the phone with her sisters and friends. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Pearl was always humble, soft spoken and always kept a smile in her face. Those who knew Pearl loved her. She will truly be missed.
Pearl leaves to cherish her precious memories, four children: Lawanda Salley, Derrick Salley, Eric Salley and Sharon Salley all of Walterboro, SC.; eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, one nephew (who was raised like a brother) Roy Lee Brown of Charleston, SC; three sister's Mary Skeet Brown, Betty Ann Brown abd Ollie Southall of Walterboro, SC; special friends Mary Chestnut, Mary Helen Williams and Melissa Williams-Moultrie; her caregiver, Harriett Hamilton, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
