Julia Mae Ruffin Obituary

Julia Mae Frasier Ruffin, 81, of Walterboro, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 10, 2025.

Julia was born on November 22, 1943, in Cottageville, South Carolina, daughter to the late Nathaniel “Samuel” Frasier, Sr. and Julia Bell King Frasier. She was educated in the Colleton County School System and went on to work in the healthcare field as a Nursing Assistant, where she spent many years caring for others with patience, humor, and a warm heart.Julia spent a large part of her life in the Bronx, New York, where she built lasting friendships and memories. After many years up north, she eventually moved back home to South Carolina and settled in Walterboro.Julia lived her life to the fullest — always laughing, dancing to her favorite music, and enjoying every good time that came her way. She loved to host gatherings for her family and friends, especially around Easter and New Year’s.

A highlight of her home celebrations was her cooking—she was known for making the best chitterlings! Her house was always open; the music was always playing. She enjoyed making people feel welcome and made sure everyone left with a full plate and a good story to tell. She didn’t have children of her own, but she loved her niece and nephews like they were hers. They, along with a long list of grand nieces and nephews, were her pride and joy. Julia was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where she participated in church life and fellowship. Julia’s faith carried her through life’s challenges—including one of her greatest victories: as she was a Breast Cancer Survivor. She faced that battle with strength, courage, and determination that inspired everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathaniel Frasier, Sr. (“Samuel”) and Julia Bell King Frasier; sisters, Betty Fields and Maryphine Millen; brother, Nathaniel Frasier; and nephews, John Victor Fields and Deon Frasier

She leaves behind cherished memories with her sister-in-law, Mary Frasier (Nathaniel); her nephews, Eric Millen, Kevin Millen (Ronnie) of Neeses, and Brian Millen, Derek Frasier (Tonya) of Walterboro, SC, and Deryl Frasier (Jocelyn) of Cottageville, SC; and her niece, Dana Malden (Chris) of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by her dear life-long friend, Teresa Palmer (New York), her godson Kevin Little, (New York), and a host of great-nieces, nephews, extended family, and many lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.Julia lived life on her own terms. She may be gone from our sight, but her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her warmth, her hospitality, and her caring nature.
