Joseph Earl Mitchell was born to Florrie Bell Mitchell and the Late James A. Mitchell on June 9, 1971. He departed this life on April 24, 2021. Joseph was affectionately known as "Joe or Big Joe" to those who knew him.
Joseph was educated in the Colleton County public school system. Then, he was transferred to Job corporation to pursue a certification in construction. Joesph joined Star Light Gospel Mission Church at an early age under the late Pastor Rosa Lee Mitchell's leadership and continued to fellowship until his passing. He shared his favorite pastime with his family, whether in person or on the phone. Joseph loved his family and supported them in any way possible. Likewise, Joseph loved his nieces and nephews like his own siblings. Joseph did not miss an opportunity to spend quality time with nieces and nephews, Jeffery Bingley, Mark Bingley, Howard Bingley Jr., Jane Marie Bingley, Karen Bingley, Joyce Bingley, Quentin Geddis, Lateisha Geddis, Ricardo Mitchell, Perry Mitchell Jr., Janea Mitchell, Dewayne Geddis, and Jasmine Williams. Joseph was very joyful, outgoing, supportive. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and cousin.
Preceded him in death his father, James A. Mitchell, Brother Tony Mitchell, His maternal Grandparents Mr. Walter Mitchell and Mother Jarisher (Ruth) Behlin Mitchell, His paternal Grandparents Mr. Leo Mitchell, and Mother Rosetta Adams Mitchell, his Aunt, Pastor Rosa Lee Mitchell, uncle Leon Mitchell, and Nephew Andre' Geddis.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving mother Florrie Bell M. Mitchell of the home, sisters Mary (Donnie) Ellison of Walterboro, SC Rosa Mae Mitchell of Saint George, SC, and Gloria Jean Mitchell of Walterboro, SC. Devoted brothers Willie James Mitchell, Perry (Peggy) Mitchell of Walterboro, SC, Ronald Mitchell of Florida, and Terry Mitchell of Walterboro, SC. Two aunts, Mother Annie L. Rhames of Summerville, SC, Mrs. Ivory Marie Brown, of Trenton, NJ Two uncles Mr. Ben Holiday of St. Albany, NY, and Pastor Elliott N. (Sadye) Mitchell of Walterboro, SC. Joseph had a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnieces, and great grandnephews.
Joseph will be genuinely missed by his entire family, community, and friends.
