John Caine, Jr. Obituary

John Jasper Caine, Jr, the son of the late Mr. John Caine, Sr and Peggy Hartman Caine was born on April 12, 1951 in Hampton, Virginia. He departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Trident Medical Center.

John was veteran of the United States Air Force where he served for 24 years. During that time, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in computer science then later taught in elementary schools and college. John retired with honors from military as well as a steel processor company, named Namasco.

John was well known in Walterboro. Everytime someone walked into the Sherrill Agency Insurance office, they admired how much he would help his grandchildren with their schoolwork. He was a great dad but even better granddaddy who made sure kids had snacks and rewards but only if they did the right thing.

John gave his blessing to Anthony Sherrill, Sr. to propose to his daughter. They would then go on family vacations every year together until John’s health began to decline.

For anyone that remembered Anthony Sherrill, Sr. Anthony loved his shop and would not go far from it. However, he admired John relationship with his wife (Linda) and daughter that he wanted to have a similar relationship with John's daughter (Susan) and their own family.

John was a wonderful husband, well respected as such. He took care of his wife and provided for her. They would have been married 53 years on March 9th, 2024. His grandchildren had the tendency to bring their friends to his house. They would hang out on the weekends, cherishing the time together they would spend together, sharing and teaching his philosophy on how men had the responsibility to lead as men and women had theirs roles as well. Everyone learned from watching John.  Especially how a woman should treat a man like a King and she will be treated like a Queen in return. John and his late son-in-law, Anthony Sherrill, Sr. will always be his daughter's Kings.

John was a humble man, large in stature,  physically strong with mental fortitude. His favorite thing was just being with family.
He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, granddaddy, and a great-granddaddy!!
