Dorothy Bodison Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bodison was born October 26, 1935 in Walterboro, SC to the late Richard and Tisher Johnson. She was eighth child of ten children.
Dorothy received her her early education at the Public Schools of Colleton County, graduating from the Colleton High School in 1956. She continued her education at Denmark Technical College as a beautician then later a certified licensed CNA.
She later married her high school sweetheart Joesph Bodison and to this union three beautiful children was born. She was employed by Oakwood Retirement Home for over 30 years. Where she shared her love for being attentive and caring for others.
She became a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church (Walterboro, SC) at an early age and later became a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church (Walterboro, SC) where she was a proud member of the senior choir.
She was the thread that has kept this family together. Her love for her children, especially her grands, overflowed tremendously she always had more than enough to share.
She was a jewel to be around, soft spoken, gentle, and kind. Most importantly she had a love for the Lord. She always encouraged and instilled the power of prayer in her family. Her affectionate laughter and smile, encouraging words and precious moments will be etched in our hearts forever.
Dorothy Bodison transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, October 1, 2021. Her legacy will always be cherished and lived on through her love and imprints she's left on this earth as we celebrate her life on today and forever more.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, the late Joesph Bodison, eight of her siblings, and her daughter in law Monica Bodison.
Those left to cherish her fond memories; two sons Michael A. Bodison and Teddy L. Bodison of Walterboro,SC; one daughter Jo Dorothy"Tia" Gray(Keith Gray) of Savannah, GA; one sister Ruth Smith of Walterboro, SC; one brother Altman Johnson(*); eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
