Demetris Simmons Obituary


Demetris Lamont Simmons, a beloved father, brother and uncle was the crying youngest of ten children born to the late Eliza Fields Simmons and Eugene Simmons on October 8th, 1975 in Colleton County. He was educated in the public school system, Lamont entered the workforce after graduating from Walterboro High School Class of 1995.

Through his words of wisdom, his demeanor, his way of life, and all that he was: Demetris, was the epitome love and respect. Affectionately known as "Lamont, Uncle Mont, Speedy and Chucky. Lamont, never met a stranger and well known and respected throughout his family and community, his presence and knowledge of life remains unmatched.

At a youthful age, he sought the Divinity of God; becoming baptized believer and uniting in Christian fellowship with Mount Olive A.M.E. Church, Green Pond, South Carolina. Lamont's life was true testament of the goodness and favor of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Demetris was an articulate, well-dressed gentleman and devoted Dallas Cowboy fan. Lamont exhibited his devotion and love to his family and friends thrhis unyielding passion for cooking. Notably famous amongst everyone for his: perfectly seasoned crabs, fried fish, chicken and tacos. A true family man, he never missed an opportunity to see his family smile and enjoy themselves as they delighted in one of his specialty dishes. A true music aficionado, one could always catch him stomping him feet and nodding his head as he enjoyed "good music"; relishing in the ambience of family, friends and community.  Lamont possessed a heart to serve, always willing to lend a helping hand, a listening ear or simply sharing his infectious smile and one dimple; to the all those he met along the way.

On the evening of Monday, November 8th, 2021 at 5:09am, Lamont traded time for eternity to be with the One who he had served. As his departure has left a void, his legacy will forever live on and be a comfort to all who cherish him. Along with his parents, he is also preceded in death by his loving and devoted niece, Shekira Fields

Life to remember the portraits of his life his beautiful daughter, Dierre L. Simmons Three adoring sisters, Rosa Lee Fields Catherine (Harry) Simmons and Florence Simmons, Six protective brothers, Lawrence (Kate) Fields, Anthony Washington, Johnny (Gladys) Simmons, Gary (Charlene) Simmons, Larry Simmons and Calvin (Sharon) Simmons. A devoted niece and caretaker Nikki Brown, two loving bonus sisters Genelle Harrison and Heavenly Harrison, along with a host of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
