Delores Carter Holmes, affectionately known as “Lois” by her family and close friends, was born October 26, 1946 in Charleston, SC. Delores was born to the late Robert Sr. and Ollie Carter. She received her education from the Dorchester County School System. Upon graduating high school Delores began a career in the Healthcare field where she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was employed at Oakbrook Nursing Home in Walterboro, SC and SCDDNS - Coastal Center in Summerville, SC.
At an early age, Delores became a dedicated member of New Jerusalem Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Ridgeville, SC. Although she never moved her membership, she would later attend Mt. Zion AME Church in Round O, SC where she sang with the gospel choir.
On November 14, 1970, she married the love of her life Johnny L. Holmes, and to this union three children were born.
In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her brother Robert Carter Jr.
After a brief illness, Delores slipped away on May 21, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Holmes; Daughters; Michelle Gerald (Ronnel) of Woodstock, GA, Keisha Williams of Cottageville, Son; Carlos Holmes of Cottageville, Daughter-in- law; Charmaine Holmes of Cottageville. 10 Grandchildren; Taylor, Tyrell, Tamya, Chalamar, Carlos, Khalil, Corday, Jayden, Jakira, & Jaryn. 5 Siblings; Betty Wright of Summerville, SC, Edward Carter (Elziane) of Ridgeville, SC, Johnny L. Carter, Shervey Carter, & Carl Carter all of Ridgeville, SC. In Laws; Reverend Deborah Carter of Summerville, SC, Gertrude Noland (Larrin), Shirley Dogue, and Edna Holmes all of Kernersville, NC, Carolyn Jones of Columbia, SC, Gloria Sullivan of Queens, NY, and Josephine Holmes of San Jose, California. 3 Aunts; Doretha Rivers of New Jersey, Fannie Rivers and Rebecca Carter, both of Ridgeville, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Wesley Grove Community. Special friends who were together known as the Golden Girls, Margaret Chisolm, Clara Cochran and Hattie Mays
