Debbie Jones Cohen

Debbie Lee Jones Cohen, born on August 18, 1954, in Pensacola, Florida, to Henry Jones and Dempsie Lee Jones Trammell (both deceased), lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and an unmistakable feisty spirit. A proud military child, Debbie grew up in Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. It was in Norfolk, Virginia, where she met her husband, Walter Cohen Jr., stationed there with the U.S. Navy in 1973. The two married on August 27, 1974, sharing 47 devoted years of marriage until Walter’s passing in October 2021.

Debbie was a talented and licensed hairdresser who owned and operated Beauty Inc. in Summerville, South Carolina. Later, her passion for helping others led her to a fulfilling career in healthcare, from which she retired in 2021. Known for her toughness and a spirit that could light up any room, Debbie touched the lives of countless people throughout her life's journey.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Athena Jones (Terry), Lucretia Cohen, Jason Cohen (Tracy), and Walter Dwaine Cohen (Jacqueline). Her cherished grandchildren include Aubrielle Nettles, Andrew Edwards, Tristan Cohen, Jayce Cohen, Victoria Cohen, Tru-Johnnis Cohen, Jordan Barnett, Alexander Cohen, and Gabriel Cohen. She was blessed with two great-grandchildren, Ashira Entrekin and Sirius Nettles. Debbie is also survived by her siblings Charles "Chuckie", Karen, Trina, Terence (April) , and Keiva, and was predeceased by Larry, Lorenia, Roslyn, Ezell Jr and Yolanda. She will be greatly missed by a special Aunt that was like a sister Mrs Bessie Davis and a host of relatives including uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Debbie’s family and friends will forever remember her as a woman of strength, love, and unshakable determination.
