Cohen Walker Obituary
Mr. Cohen Walker, the son of the late Nathan Walker and Dosher Reed was born on March 7, 1 925 in Cottageville, South Carolina. He was educated in the public schools of Colleton County.
After graduation, Cohen served his country in World War II. He returned home with two Bronze Stars, a good conduct medal and a World War II Victory Medal.
In 1947, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Vergie Adams. From this union three children were born. At an early age, Cohen first joined Nazarene Baptist Church. He later moved his membership to Galilee Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.
Deacon Walker was a hard worker, farmer, brick Mason then finally retired after years of faithful service at J.P. Stevens. He was proceeded in death by his wife Vergie Walker One brother Sonny Boy and one sister Helen Walker.
He leaves to cherish his memories three children Alvertis Simpson, James (Pearl) Walker both of Cottageville, SC & Dianne Simmons all of Walterboro, South Carolina. Four brothers Nathan (Jestin) Walker, Jr., Herbert Walker of Walterboro and Clarence Walker of Maryland, Linel (Sarah) of Walterboro, SC. Three sisters Inez Walker, Vivian Tucker and Virginia Walker SC and one cousin/adopted sister Mattie Tucker all of Cottageville, SC. He also leaves eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
