Carl Wiggins Obituary

Carl Ronald Wiggins, Sr. peacefully transitioned from this life February 8, 2022, at his home in Maryland. Carl was born in Walterboro, South Carolina on March 8, 1956, as one of 5 children born to the late Jesse and Emma Jane Wiggins.

Carl was educated in the public schools of Colleton County. After graduating from high school he moved to Washington, D.C/Maryland area where his older sister already relocated.

Soon after moving to Washington D.C/Maryland he became a member of the Free Evangelistic Church, Washington, D.C. He is remembered for preaching a message entitled," I am On The Winning Team."

Carl loved talking and spending time with family and close friends. He had a very good memory and was always up and ready for a healthy and spirited debate on any topic. He loved to travel and did so until his death no longer allowed him to.

He spent most of his career working for Miller & Long Construction Company along side his brothers Preston and the late Jesse Wiggins.

On March 8,1975 Carl married Iris Zeigler Wiggins. From this union two sons and one daughter was born, son Carl Wiggins Jr.,(Ayanna), son, Ivan Wiggins (proceeded him in death) and a daughter, Carris Wiggins. Later from a second union three sons were born, Lynard Mayrant, Christopher Mayrant and Jonathon Mayrant (proceeded him in death); four grandchildren; Chynna Wiggins, Ivan Wiggins, Olivia Wiggins and Ava Wiggins. All of Maryland.

Carl leaves behind three siblings to share and cherish his many memories. They are, sisters, Saundra Drayton (Michael) ,of Columbia, South Carolina and Jessie Barker (Michael), of Fort Smith Arkansas. One brother Preston Wiggins , of Maryland, (Jesse Wiggins proceeded him in death). Among dear friends Michael Ford of Walterboro, South Carolina and Donald Haynes of Maryland, along with one aunt, Melvania Simpson of Hephzibah, Georgia, one uncle, Jewel Merritt of Waterboro, South Carolina, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
