Barbara Louise Mays

Barbara Louise Mays, age 70, of Walterboro, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Barbara was born on February 14, 1955, in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was the beloved child of her biological mother, Wilhelmina Williams, and was lovingly raised by Louise Williams.

From an early age, Barbara demonstrated a strong sense of kindness and humor, qualities that remained present throughout her life. She was known for her infectious laugh, warm spirit, and generous heart. Barbara loved music and enjoyed watching movies, but most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed and loved.

Barbara was married twice. She was first married to Charles Holmes, and from that union one son was born, Nayrone Holmes. She later married Billie Mays, with whom she had two sons, Olinfassis Mays and Monrell Mays.

Barbara leaves to cherish her precious memories her children: Nayrone Holmes; Olinfassis Mays (Samone Bryant); and Dominick Mays. She is also survived by her siblings: Linda Moultrie, Roy Evans, Sherrill Evans, and Terry Evans; her grandchildren: Jabri Mays, Myron Mays, Faith Mays, Shaterria Villalobos (married to Alex Villalobos), Orlandis Mays, Regan Davenport, Nayrone Holmes, Jr., Jordan Holmes, Jenesis Holmes, Nori Maree, Skakiah Maree, Damon Mays, Jada Washington, and Naveah Mays; and ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Williams; her son, Monrell Mays; and her grandson, Dominick Mays, Jr.

Though Barbara is no longer with us, her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
